Facilities
Classroom: The bright and spacious classroom is set up with various learning centres to help children develop language, art, math, science and life skills.
Gymnasium: A full-sized gymnasium with different activities set up to promote gross motor development.
Playground: A private, fully-fenced playground for children to enjoy the outdoors and develop physically. Age appropriate equipment is also available for children to explore.
Philosophy
Children learn and thrive with our “learning through play” school philosophy. MRNS offers a warm and nurturing environment where teachers and parents work together to stimulate each child’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth, giving them a strong foundation from which to draw on throughout their lives.
Our History
MRNS was established by the Junior League in 1935 as an outdoor play group for children. In 1937, the operation of the school was taken over by the parents, and it became the first co-operative nursery school in Canada. It has continued as the oldest co-operative nursery school at the same location, in the Church of the Transfiguration. The school has always been non-profit, self-supporting and non-denominational. Also, it is a member of the Toronto District Parent Co-Operative Preschool Corporation (PCPC).
